The Tarot is a method of divination through reading a specially-designed deck of cards. The actual origins of the Tarot are lost in time, but there are at least two decks known to existed in the late Medieval period. A modern artist, Luigi Scapini, has designed a beautiful deck using the existing cards from these ancient decks as inspiration. Choosing a Tarot deck for one's own use, however, is an intensely personal choice. A wide range of artists have created their own card designs. The Salvador Dali deck is a particularly beautiful one. Some decks will "speak" to one person, while not at all to another. We recommend examining a number of decks before choosing the one which is right for you. The Spider Web has a variety of decks, and books on their use. We can help you choose the one that is most right for you. Attuning to the Deck Once you have found the right deck for you, we recommend a two-part process to prepare it for your use. You should leave the deck out in the sun for a day to cleanse it of any energy that might have accumulated at the factory where it was made. When leaving it outdoors unprotected is not an option, we recommend leaving it on the dashboard of a locked car. Next, you should charge it in the light of the moon (ideally when full). Again, the dash of a car will work well. Once the deck is cleansed and charged, you should sleep with it under your pillow. This is a great way to let your subconscious mind mesh with the cards to help empower your readings. On The Third Thursday of every month at 7pm there will be a casual meeting of people interested in Tarot . It is facilitated by Shannon Bowman . See Ya There . |
